Canon's ERR 99 the blue screen of Canon

ENGLISH:
I was shooting at an event friday night when my camera gave me the ERR 99, that is like the blue screen in the Canons. Searched over the internet and with that results tested the lenses, contacts, batteries, CF cards, and flash, so probably all is left is the shutter.
The ERR 99 is those "something bad happened but i don't know what" kinda of error.
The 10d shutter has an expected shutter life of 30,000 to 50,000 shots, and mine probably already did that twice. I'll have to get in touch with Canon to get it replaced. If it is too expensive i'll probably buy the 40d or 50d, i don't know yet since its kinda expensive for a students wallet.
btw, the image is a quick manip i did, the screen really doesn't go all blue like on windows :P

Estava a fotografar num evento na sexta à noite quando a minha camera deu-me o ERR 99, que é tipo o ecrã azul das Canon. Investiguei na net e com os resultados que obti testei lentes, contactos, baterias, cartões CF e flash, portanto provavelmente falta o shutter.
O ERR 99 é daqueles erros estilo "aconteceu algo mau, mas não sei o que".
O shutter da 10d tem uma vida média de 30000 a 50000 fotos, e o meu já deve ter feito 2x isso.
Terei de entrar em contacto com a Canon para ver se troco isto. Se for muito caro provavelmente vou à caça da 40d ou 50d, não sei ainda visto que é muito caro para uma carteira de estudante.
já agora, a imagem é uma manip rápida que fiz, o ecrã não fica mesmo azul como no windows. :P

Google Earth Update

A couple more of my shots were approved by the guys from Google Earth (they're 19 at the moment).
I took these shots back in the summer vacations, but sometimes they skip a photo or two, so you need the fill a little form so they can review it. with all that the last one of those i submited back then was only placed in Google Earth two days ago.
If you want to see the photos in the map you can download the kml file for google earth or see them with your browser.

This afternoon i was at Oliveira do Bairro shooting. Didn't shoot that much, the event wasn't that long it was like a "quick session".
Here's a couple shots... who the heck had the idea to place two 1000w spotlights behind the chorus?!?!? damn, that were some hard to take shots and i still got a couple flares in the shots. geeeez...
btw, found out a site, the "C4D Exchange" didn't had time to explore but seems interesting. Check in the "Resources" links at the left. Also added a couple design sites in the "Blog&Sites (Design&Pub)" section.

Esta tarde estive em Oliveira do Bairro a fotografar. Não tirei assim muitas fotos como possam imaginar, o evento não foi muito longo foi mais do estilo "sessão rápida".
Aqui ficam um par de fotos... quem raio se lembra de colocar dois holofotes de 1000w atrás do Coro?!?!? Foi uma complicação para tirar fotos e mesmo assim nota-se "flares" em algumas...

Yes, its a stupid title kinda inspired by Street Fighter sequels. :P
Well, were to begin... Lot to do and not much time.
I think its better to have a list:

A week ago, another of my clients (Luís Filipe Pirré Advogados) got the quality certification. There's still a lot of work to do for him.
The guys from Coimbra@deviantart had another expo (at Dolve Vita), i'm already out of the administration because don't have time and i was sick of doing everything but since i started organizing this expo a year ago (it was suposed to be our first expo, but looong waiting list) i kept my works in the expo. I'm waiting for the result of Relvão e Ferreira that will decide if they'll call me for some period of professional training (what we call "estágio"). yup nervous has hell...
Also i joined a game through some friends. Its an online kinda of strategy/fighting game. Join by going to http://the-iguana.labrute.fr/ then create your character and fight me. After that you'll become my pupil and can start fighting with other and to help your character get stronger. (give also your own link to your friends so you can get your own pupils) Its fun and doesn't take much time because your limited to 3 fights a day. (site in french, but i don't know french and i can handle it)

Can remember anything else right now, but i know there's more things to tell, i just can't remember... too tired.

A uma semana atrás, outro cliente (Luís Filipe Pirré Advogados) recebeu o certificado de qualidade. Por falar nisso ainda falta muito trabalho para acabar para ele.
O pessoal do Coimbra@deviantart tiveram outra exposição (no Dolce Vita), já saí da admnistração pois não tenho tempo e estava farto de fazer tudo sozinho, mas visto que comecei a organizar esta expo a uma ano (era suposto ser a nossa 1ª expo, mas tinham uma longa lista de espera) manti os meus trabalhos na expo. Estou à espera do "resultado" da Relvão e Ferreira que irão decidir se me chamam para estágio ou não. Sim nervosinho até dizer chega...
Também juntei-me a um jogo através de alguns amigos. É um jogo online tipo estratégia/luta. Entrem no jogo através do http://the-iguana.labrute.fr/ criem uma personagem e lutem comigo. Depois disso passam a ser meus alunos e podem começar a lutar com outros e a evoluir a vossa personagem. (passem também depois o vosso link aos vossos amigos para ter os vossos alunos). É divertido e não rouba muito tempo visto que está limitado a 3 lutas por dia. O site é em francês, mas é fácil, eu não sei francês e safo-me bem no site.

Não me lembro de mais nada, sei que há mais para dizer mas não me lembro mesmo... demasiado cansado.

Well, we're having the Latada again, and like last year inTocha requested me to do the tickets for the beers, water, etc.
As usual "its urgent" so i had to do it all in a hurry, and i had to do one ticket different for every day.
Later they decided that was to expensive and so it went from several tickets to only one design. They made some changes and the result was some tickets all stretched up and sh*t. oh well...

Bem, e chegamos à Latada mais uma vez, e tal como no ano passado o inTocha pediu-me para fazer as senhas da cerveja, águas, etc...
O típico "é urgente" resultando em eu ter de fazer tudo a correr, e fazer um design diferente para cada dia (23 a 29 Out).
Mais tarde decidiram que era demasiado caro e entao passaram de diversas senhas para apenas um design. Fizeram então algumas alterações nos meus modelos e o resultado foi as senhas todas "esticadas" que podem encontrar no recinto da Latada. oh well...

Do you see the "menus" on the left?
I added two sections. "Free Magazines", with online magazines that you can watch, and "Resources" with some resources sites that i use sometimes. For example the "Brands of The World" is really great because it has lots of logos already in vector for when some company sends you their logo in a tiny .jpg inside a .doc. That way you don't need to re-vectorize the logos and lose precious working time. Also the "What The Font" that tries to recognize a font from an image, that its also really great for when you can't get the logo anywhere and need to re-vectorize it but don't know what font the creator used (if any).

Conseguem ver os "menus" no lado esquerdo?
Adicionei 2 secções. "Free Magazines" com revistas online que podem ver, e "Resources" com alguns sites de recursos que uso de vez em quando. Por exemplo o "Brands of The World" é muito bom, pois tem imensos logos já em vector, para quando uma empresa vos envia um .jpg minusculo dentro de um .doc. Desse modo não precisam de perder tempo precioso a re-vectorizar o logo para trabalhar. Também o "What The Font" que tenta reconhecer a font de uma imagem, também é muito bom para quando não se arranja o logo em lado nenhum e é preciso re-vectorizar e não se sabe qual a fonte que o criador usou (se alguma).

a little modification in my pda

You might remember my ASUS pda... well, i made some modifications.
In the picture you can see the before and after. The before the typical micro$oft crap, messy and not practical, even with my model that has a couple extra buttons that are really handy. So, i got ThrottleLauncher that makes a big difference... you have a lot of options at the tips of your fingers (kinda like iphone). I also changed the colors to grey. i was tired of that blue.
Has you can see in the images it looks a lot different and better.
I also got myself some new ringtones, some stupid (Borat for example "you got a new message, high fiiive") and some that are fancier that the typical Micro$oftILikeToHurtYourEars type.
Of course its will never be an iPhone, but at least works and looks better.

Talvez se lembrem do meu pda ASUS... Bem, eu fiz-lhe algumas modificações.
Na imagem podem ver o antes e depois. O antes é a típica porcaria confusa e nada prática à lá Micro$oft, mesmo com o este modelo que tem um par de botões extra que são muito prácticos. Então, encontrei o ThrottleLauncher que faz uma grande diferença... Passamos a ter muitas opções na ponta dos dedos (um pouco como o iphone). Também mudei o esquema de cores para cinza que já estava cansado daquele azul.
Como podem ver nas imagens tem um aspecto muito diferente e melhor.
Também arranjei alguns toques novos, alguns parvos para a paródia (o Borat por exemplo "you got a new message, high fiiive") e outros mais porreirinhos que os tipicos ao estilo da Micro$oftEuGostoDeMagoarOsTeusOuvidos".
Claro que nunca será um iPhone, mas pelo menos funciona melhor e tem melhor aspecto.

How do you stop time?

This shot is from some tests i did today with some extension tubes i ordered from ebay.
This is my wrist watch in a long exposure macro. You can see the seconds pointer moving... For a scale idea, that Camel logo is about 3x5 mm.
The background looks a little weird because its made of carbon fiber. Here's an online example of how it looks (not the one i have, i didn't find any online)

Esta foto é um dos testes que fiz hoje com os tubos de extensão que encomendei do ebay.
Este é o meu relógio de pulso numa macro e longa exposição .Consegue-se ver o arrastamento do ponteiro dos segundos. Para uma noção de tamanho, o logo da Camel é algo por volta dos 3x5mm.
O fundo parece meio estranho porque é de fibra de carbono. Aqui está um exemplo online do aspecto (não é o modelo que tenho, não o encontrei online)

Today the Extension Tubes i ordered from ebay arrived. (£4: about 5€/$7.5)
The Extension tubes improve the macro capacity of a lens by moving it farther from the film or digital sensor. The farther away the lens is, the closer the focus, the greater the magnification, and also the greater the loss of light (requiring a longer exposure time or more light (in a studio for example)).
In these pictures you can see:
1) The tubes
2) my old 18-50 maximum macro capacity
3) same lens with the extension tubes
4 to 7) explained under the picture

Hoje chegaram os meus Extension Tubes que encomendei no ebay. (£4: cerca de 5€/$7.5)
Estes tubos melhoram a capacidade de macro de uma lente ao afastar esta do filme ou sensor digital.
Quanto mais afastaad, mais perta é a focagem, maior a ampliação e também maior a perca de luz (sendo necessário uma exposição maior ou mais luz (num estúdio por exemplo)).
Nas imagens pode-se ver:
1) Os tubos
2) a capacidade máxima de macro da minha antiga 18-50
3) a mesma lente com os tubos de extensão
4) Test: Um snack de soja
5) Test: Exposição de 4 seg. do meu relógio

This is a digital illustration/collage for a wedding invitation... The client wanted something different, not the typical wedding invitation. The accordion and the gym weight are there because those are references to their professional areas.
After listening to their ideas and wishes i showed this idea and they said that they loved it...

My new lens arrived. Its a Sigma 24-70 mm f/2.8 Macro.
In the picture you can see the lens an a test shot i did at the bar in my house. Shot at 2.8 with bad light conditions. (yes i was drinking lol)
The main characteristics of the lens are:
24- 70 mm, having a angle of view of 84.1 (@24) to 34.3 (@70) degrees
The aperture can go from 2.8 to 32
Filter diameter is 82mm (this means expensive filters because of the size)
A little heavy (something around 715g / 25.2oz - info from Sigma)

Maybe you remember my site redesign that i did for a class?
Well, i also did a printed version following the site graphic style (that's more visible in the back of the cards).
The package consists in two parts, one black, other silver (the logo its cutted out so you can see the silver under it) and inside the portfolio is made of cards separed by Photography, 3D, Illustration, Graphics and Info. The sections are united with stripes, 1 white and 4 that represent CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).
And this is the result. Maybe i'll improve a thing or another later.

Bem, também fiz versão impressa seguindo o grafismo do site (mais visivel no verso dos cartões)

Its been a while since i updated this...
So i decided to do a quick update before jumping to the next work...
I've been busy like crazy, i had the Art & Design week to photograph (the first photo). I'll upload more photos to the blog of the event after talking to the coordinator of the degree.
Last Saturday i also had a friend's wedding were me and other friend were guests/photographers. the second photo is one of the several shots i took. i'll choose a couple ones to upload as soon as possible (aka free time).
Also i had a call from inTocha to go to the Rugby Club of Coimbra to make a quick flyer invinting everyone to go see the euro 2008 (football/soccer) games there. (3rd picture)
And i think thats all... the rest of my time has been degree work, eating junk, and sleeping (kinda).
Now its time for the final project of my 3D class... see ya.

Então decidi fazer um update rápido antes de saltar para o próximo trabalho...
Tenho andado super ocupado, tive a semana de Arte e Design para fotografar (1ª foto). Irei fazer upload de mais fotos para o blog do evento assim que fale com o coordenador do curso.
No Sábado passado tive o casamento de um amigo onde eu e outro colega fomos convidados/fotografos. A segunda foto é uma das várias que tirei, depois escolho um par delas para colocar aqui assim que possivel (conhecido por tempo livre).
Também tive um telefonema do pessoal do inTocha para ir ao Clube de Rugby de Coimbra para fazer um flyer rápido para convidar toda a gente para ir ver os jogos do Euro 2008. (3ª imagem)
E penso que é tudo... O resto do meu tempo tem sido trabalho do curso, comer porcarias e dormir (mais ou menos).
Agora vou virar-me para o projecto final da cadeira de 3D... Inté.

Next week (02 to 06) we'll have the Art & Design at ESEC meeting with workshops, conferences, expos, etc...
I was invited by the degree coordinator to take care of the blog and to be responsible for the photos of the event, it will be an hard week photographing all day and then going home to work all night for the degree works. :s
But i bet that it will be a cool event and since i love to take photos i'll have fun shooting the event.

A miracle happened =P, i took a weekend off (well, kinda) so i could enjoy a little of Queima das Fitas 2008.
The Queima is something like a week, but i have a lot to do, so i only took a weekend for fun.

She said to keep it minimalistic so the work stands out and not the site. its in portugues but you can peek it to have an idea. Go HERE.

Asus P526 & Missing Sync For Windows Mobile

For a busy life like mine my iCalendar or the calendar of my phone weren't good enough for organization, so i was thinking about a PocketPC phone. I also thought "well, if i'm going to change to a PocketPC phone i'll get one also with GPS, that can be really usefull". So i ended up with Asus P526. It isn't a top of the line PocketPC, but i like it.

The Asus P526 that comes with Win Mobile Pro6 is not very big for a PocketPC (10,9 x 5,8 x 1,5 cm) and also feels light. Has an aluminium body, and a keyboard that is useful when you just want to make a call and don't need to get the little pen for that. It doesn't have wireless or 3G. The wireless could be handy now or then, but it wasn't a main function for me. The battery seems to last almost 3 days that its good enough for me.
And think thats it, i don't want to go into many details about it.

Mac users have a problem with PocketsPC's, because as usual, Micro$oft only care about themselves and the Synchronization software is only for windows. How can a Mac user go around this?
There's Missing Sync For Windows Mobile that syncs your PocketPC with your mac so you don't need windows for the synchronization. Works perfectly. You can sync by USB or by bluetooth. For bluetooth is better to check the help > bluetooth synchronization assistant just to be sure you get it right. (its really easy)

Para uma vida ocupada como a minha, o iCalendar ou o calendário do meu telemóvel não eram suficientes para organizar as minhas coisas, então andava a pensar num PocketPC com telefone. Pensei também "Bem, se for para trocar para um PocketPC que seja um já com GPS visto que pode ser muito útil." Então acabei com o Asus P526. Não é um topo de gama, mas gosto dele.

O Asus P526 que vem com o Win Mobile Pro6 não é muito grande para o PocketPC (10,9 x 5,8 x 1,5 cm) e também é leve. Tem um corpo em aluminio e teclado o que dá muito jeito quando se quer fazer uma chamada sem ter de tirar a caneta para isso. Não tem wireless nem 3G. O wireless podia dar jeito uma vez ou outra, mas não era das funções mais importantes para mim. A bateria parece durar quase 3 dias o que também me parece bem.
E acho que é tudo, não quero entrar em muitos detalhes.

Os utilizadores de Mac tem um problema com os PocketPC's, porque como é habitual, na Micro$oft só pensam neles e então o programa de sincronização é apenas para windows. Como é que um utilizador de Mac pode dar a volta a isto?
Existe o Missing Sync For Windows Mobile que sincroniza o PocketPC com o Mac não sendo preciso o windows para isto. Funciona perfeitamente. Pode-se sincronizar por USB ou por bluetooth. Por bluetooth aconselho ir a Help > bluetooth synchronization assistant para ter a certeza que fica bem configurado. (é fácil)

Some New Stuff Out

Here's some new stuff that came out.
The first one (i didn't made the poster) is a Portuguese card with discounts for young people (under 26). This is the AAC's version. The picture of AAC's building is by me. i didn't got a card to shot and i can't find a better picture on the internet.
The second one is the inTocha logo in 3D for the tobacco machines.

A primeira imagem (eu não fiz o cartaz), é a versão da AAC do Cartão Jovem. A foto do edifício da AAC é da minha autoria. Não arranjei um cartão para fotografar e também não encontrei uma imagem melhor na internet.
A segunda imagem é logotipo do inTocha em 3D para colocar nas máquinas de tabaco do grupo inTocha.
Podem ver por exemplo no bar da AAC e talvez no Clube de Rugby (ainda não fui lá ver se já está colocada ou não).
E é tudo por agora, apenas uma actualização rápida.

ENGLISH:

Today i delivered this work in a class. Its a conceptual expo stand for a utopic, futuristic, floating and ecologic car. The ideia behind it is nature, the stand bluilt in Plastic Wood (Envirowood) and with a floor with grass, is a representation of the ecological feature of the car, the columns are like tress and they have a little place for informative panflets, a plasma screen and a light pointed to the car. I also made a table and chairs with the same style of the stand.
The video that you see its a 3D 360 degrees animation, only 2 seconds but the render took 6h because of the 900000 green hairs that made the grass, the images are 3D renders of the stand and then the printed part of the work, A1 size Board, A3 book with description and CAD drawings, and a little case with a CD with the digital version of everything. And that it... Now its time to yell "NEEEEEXT" and to go back to work.

Hoje entreguei este trabalho numa aula. É um stand conceptual para exposições para um carro futurista, utópico, planador e ecológico. A conceito é a natureza, o Stand é construido em Madeira Plástica (Envirowood) e tem um chão relvado, representando a particularidade ecológica do veículo, as colunas representam árvores, onde se pode ver um local para colocar folhetos informativos, um plasma com informação e vídeos, e também uma luz apontada ao veículo. Fiz também uma mesa e cadeiras seguindo as linhas do stand.
O vídeo que vêm ali em cima é uma animação 360º 3D de apenas 2 segundos, mas o render demorou 6h devido a ter de calcular os 900000 "cabelos" que representam a relva em todos os frames. As imagens são renders 3D do stand, e depois a parte impressa do trabalho, um painel A1, um livro A3 com descrição e CAD, e uma pequena caixa com CD com a versão digital de tudo. E é isto... Agora é hora de gritar "PRÓÓÓÓXIMO" e voltar ao trabalho.

Re-design work

Ok, i'm awake since Tuesday morning and now its wednesday 23h:17 (11:17 pm).
I spend all this time working and i don't really know how many coffees i had (and a Redbull). No i wasn't doing the work you see in the pictures, that was already done and the delivery is tomorrow. I was working in something i doesn't like. yeay. :| That sucks...
Well, the first work is a college re-design work, the first image is the original (scary) and then my version with the CD with the digital files ready for print in offset.
The second one are two little books (it was a group work) about printing, Rotogravure and Flexography.
And thats it, i'm going to try to work a little more, or i'm going to sleep, i don't know... i'm all nervous and tired. geeez.

Ok, estou acordado desde terça-feira de manhã e agora são 23h22m de quarta-feira.
Passei este tempo todo a trabalhar e já não sei quantos cafés bebi (e um Redbull). Não, não estive a fazer o trabalho que vêm nas imagens, esses já estavam feitos e são para entregar amanhã. Estive a trabalhar em outra coisa que ainda por cima não gosto. yeay. :| Sim, agora pelo que parece lembraram-se que o nosso curso devia levar com design de equipamento à força toda, bem, eu até gostava de equipamento (apesar de preferir design gráfico), mas não sei porque (ou então sei) estou a deixar de gostar e tou a ficar farto. Agora é que já é tarde, pois se eu soubesse disto mais cedo acho que tinha ido para CDM (comunicação e design multimédia), mas pronto, falando das imagens...
O primeiro é um trabalho de re-design de um desdobrável, onde na primeira imagem está o original e no segunda está a minha versão com o CD com os ficheiros digitais preparados para impressão em offset.
O segundo é um trabalho de grupo sobre impressão, são dois pequenos livros sobre Rotogravura e Flexografia.
E acho que é tudo, acho que vou ver se ainda trabalho um bocado, ou então vou dormir, já não sei... Ando todo nervoso, irritadiço, cansado...

The guy said that everything went alright, but i think that probably looks like a piece of crap.
I must look like hell, and i also felt a little lost, specially because my brain feels really tired.

You might remember the post about the first expo of the club of Coimbra at deviantART
So, today i joined the participants of the expo that i and the other admins organized at Café com Arte because it was the first official day of the expo. No profit, just pure fun...
Here's a quick panorama of 4 shots that i took there, almost everyone here in this shot is from deviantART and the photos that i have in this expo. All very normal until i was asked for an interview for Diário de Coimbra, not confirmed to be published, but lets see if it is... Thats something new for me. =|

Alguns devem-se lembrar do post que fiz sobre a primeira expo do clube de Coimbra do deviantART.
Então, hoje juntei os participantes (e alguns que não participaram) da expo que eu e os outros administradores organizamos no Café com Arte, pois foi o primeiro dia oficial da expo. Nada de lucros, apenas puro divertimento...
Aqui fica um panorama de 4 fotos que tirei à pressa, quase todos que estão nesta foto são membros do deviantART e as que fotos minhas é que se encontram nesta expo.
Foi tudo muito normal até me virem pedir para responder a umas perguntinhas para o Diário de Coimbra, não está confirmado que seja publicada (já sabem como funcionam essas coisas, depende também das notícias), mas vamos ver se é... Foi algo novo para mim. =|

Well, its Sunday so i decided to have a little break from work and went to play with my new lens.
I was driving and this idea came up, so i parked and went outside with my camera and the tripod.
You should see the other drivers faces when they looked at me. It doesn't look like it, but i was really close to the car, the lens almost at the bumper. lol...
Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm, and edited the license plate for number removal.
LOL. just noticed that the reduced image makes the reflection of the trees on the hood look like my car is smashed at the left side of the car (right side on picture), in the original image looks fine. damn, that scared me to death. phew...

Bem, é Domingo e então decidi fazer um intervalo do trabalho e fui brincar com a minha lente nova.
Ia a conduzir e surgiu esta ideia, então estacionei e sai com a camera e o tripé.
Deviam ver a cara dos outros condutores quando olhavam para mim, não parece, mas tava mesmo perto do carro com a lente quase no para-choques. lol....
Sigma 10-20@10mm, edição para remover as letras da matricula.
LOL. Acabei de reparar que na versão reduzida para colocar na net, o reflexo das árvores no capot parece que tenho o carro batido no lado esquerdo (direito na foto), na imagem original está bom. Porra que susto. ufa...

I got a Sigma EX 10-20 this Christmas.
This lens, created thinking about the new era of digital cameras, allows enjoyment of super wide-angle photography and it is a very powerful tool for indoor shooting and landscape photography.
The 10-20 covers a wide angle from 102.4° (@10mm) to 63.8º(@20mm), and it has a HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system. About the F-stop, this lens can go from F4-5.6 to F22.
In the image you can see an example how a Sigma 10-20 looks like and two test shots i did with my car. i was really close to the car, and not far away as it might look. If i stepped forward i would bump my car.
I like the distortions that this lens creates.

Recebi uma Sigma EX 10-20 este Natal.
Esta lente, criada a pensar na nova era das câmeras digitais, permite disfrutar a fotografia grande angular e é uma ferramenta muito poderosa na fotografia de interiores e de paisagens.
A 10-20 cobre um anglo entre 102,4º (a 10mm) até 63,8º (a 20mm) e tem motor com systema HSM (motor hyper sónico). Em relação à abertura, esta lente consegue ir desde F4-5.6 a F22.
Na imagem podem ver um exemplo do aspecto de uma Sigma 10-20 e dois testes que fiz com o meu carro. Eu estava mesmo perto do caro, e não afastado como pode parecer. Se eu desse um passo em frente batia no carro.
Gosto das distorções que esta lente cria.
PS: já lavava o carro. lol...

Ok, now that i recovered from my fever i got back to work, but now i decided to take a break and finished something i was working in my free time. I got this old picture from google and started recovering it now and then... This one was a little harder then the first one i tried to recover, but now i want to try one even more complex. Its hard to find a old damaged photo online with a good size so i can work on it, maybe i'll try to find a old family photo that i can scan and i'll work on that one.

Ok, agora que recuperei da minha febre voltei ao trabalho, mas decidi fazer um intervalo e acabar algo em que andava a trabalhar nos meus tempos livres. Arranjei esta foto no google e comecei a recupera-la aos poucos... Esta foi um pouco mais difícil que a primeira que experimentei recuperar, mas agora quero tentar uma foto ainda mais complexa. É difícil arranjar uma foto antiga danificada na net com um bom tamanho para poder trabalhar nela, talvez tente procurar alguma foto de família antiga e danificada que possa digitalizar e então trabalhar nessa foto.

Sooo... I heard that its my birthday... No really... i almost forgot about it. :|
But is not about that i'm going to talk about.
Some of you might already know that i was envited to be the admin of the coimbra club at deviantART, i accepted and decided to organize things like expositions and such. I envited some friends to be also admins so they can help me and i'm glad i did that because latelly i'm really busy with a lot of things.
Our first Expo will be at Café Com Arte @ Coimbra, Portugal from Jan 3rd to Fev 4th.

Como alguns devem saber fui convidado para ser administrador do clube de Coimbra no deviantART, aceitei e decidi começar a organizar algumas coisas como por exemplo exposições. Convidei alguns amigos para serem também admins de forma a poderem ajudar a tratar das coisas, e ainda bem que o fiz que ultimamente tenho andado super ocupado com uma carrada de coisas.
A nossa primeira Expo será no Café com Arte em Coimbra de 3 de Jan a 4 de Fev.

Ok, its not funny to hear at 17h30m (5:30 pm) the next sentence:

WTF DUDE?!?
Full of work and specially a work for my degree to deliver the next day i decided to give it a try. He gave me that doodle on the top and said that was a jewerllery shop, and thats it. Squeezing my tired brain for some idea and stressed because i had to do that fast, i did these ones.
The first ones were an idea that i had. A clean, minimalistic modern look, and in silver or gold for the "fancy" touch.
Reply: Too empty i want stuff in it.
Then i made the other versions ASAP, and then i got no reply...
At least a "no, i don't want something like that." would be nice.
Damn, that was a waste of my precious busy time...
I need vacations, i notice that i'm taking the double of the time to design something i like. :\

Ok, não tem piada nenhuma ouvir às 17h:30m a seguinte frase:
"Consegues-me fazer um logo para hoje?"
HEIN?!?!?! (ou "wtf dude?!?" para os que perceberem)
Cheio de trabalho e principalmente um trabalho do meu curso para entregar no dia a seguir decidi tentar para não deixar o gajo "pendurado" sem logo.
Ele deu-me aquele esboço que está no topo da imagem, disse que era uma ourivesaria e pronto é isso...
Após espremer o meu cérebro cansado e stressado porque tinha de ser rápido, fiz estes exemplos.
Os primeiros foram uma ideia que tive de seguir um "look" mais limpo, minimalista e moderno, não queria seguir o típico logotipo de ourivesarias, e poderia ser em prateado ou dourado para dar-lhe um toque mais "fashion".
Resposta: Muito vazio, quero lá coisas (não foi bem assim, mas dá para ter uma ideia)
Depois fiz as outras versões "a abrir" e não recebi resposta nenhuma.
Pelo menos um "não, não é isto que eu quero." era bonito de se dizer.
Raios, foi uma perda do meu precioso e ocupado tempo...
Preciso de férias, noto que ando a demorar o dobro do tempo a produzir algo que eu goste. :\

Photoshop Stuff

Well i decided to show you some of the things i do in photoshop.
Today i decided to show a couple of before/after photos.
The first one is a close up that i searched in Stock Exchange and edited (to replace a example that i had here since some people thought that one was edited by me, this one now is edited by me).
The second one is a photo of a ex-girlfriend that i edited some time ago, its was a fast editing, nothing really hard. The bad quality of the uploaded picture doesn't help, but you can see a little difference looking at the skin, the eyes, a little difference on the lip's color and a blurred background.
I also was looking for other photo of a friend that i edited, but i can't find it right now (probably is in one of my DVD's). :\
Watch the photos in fullview to see a better difference.
Photoshop can do this and much, much more. Also having a Wacom helps a lot in this things.

Bem, hoje decidi mostrar de vez em quando algumas das coisas que faço no photoshop.
Hoje decidi mostrar um par de fotos de antes/depois.
A primeira é um close up que eu procurei no Stock Exchange e editei (para substituir um exemplo que eu tinha aqui, pois algumas pessoas pensavam que era editada por mim, este sim agora é editado por mim).
A segunda é uma foto de uma ex-namorada que eu editei já a algum tempo, foi uma edição rápida, nada muito difícil. A má qualidade da foto que foi para upload não ajuda muito, mas podem ver um pouco a diferença ao olhar para a pele, os olhos, um pouco na cor dos lábios e o fundo um pouco desfocado.
Procurei também uma outra foto de uma colega que eu editei, mas não consigo encontrar, já deve estar em DVD e não tou com cabeça para procurar agora.
Vejam as fotos grandes para poderem ver melhor as diferenças.
O Photoshop pode fazer isto e muito mais. Também ter uma Wacom ajuda bastante nestas coisas.

ARCO - 3º Concerto de S. Martinho

Last night it was the 3rd Concert of S.Martinho organized by ARCO, and as usual i was there photographing.
The chorus were: "Cantate Iubilo" chorus, "Casa do Povo do Troviscal" Orpheon (this one like like a funny mix of chorus with stand up comedy, it was funny), Golegã's chorus and of course ARCO's chorus.
Here are a couple shot by order of appearance.

Esta noite passada foi o 3º Concerto de S. Martinho organizado pela ARCO, e como é habitual, lá estava eu a fotografar.
Os Coros participantes foram: Coral Polifónico "Cantate Iubilo" (Barrô - Águeda), Orfeão da Casa do Povo do Troviscal (este era uma mistura engraçada de coro com algo tipo Stand Up comedy, foi giro), Coral Polifónico da Golegã e claro o Coro Misto da ARCO.

The catalog for T-Things is ready (over 100 pages)... Its a catalog with a clean and minimalistic look, following the style of the site (the webmaster showed me the site, don't know if its online yet).
The client didn't had a logo, so i asked if she wanted a logo too, so i made the logo too.

O catálogo para a T-Things está pronto (mais de 100 paginas)... É um catalogo com um aspecto limpo e minimalista, seguindo o estilo do site (o webmaster mostrou-me o site, não sei se já está online).

Adam's Photography & Cook Book

And another fast work asked by the people from Whatsinonline.com (Leiscester, UK). I was asked for one logo for Adam's Photography in Black, White and Green and if possible to use an apple in the logo. The other logo was for Cook Book and there they just said that the background would be white, but since i send it with no background that was no issue in this case...
This are the first logos i sent so they could see them and give an opinion (things to change and stuff), they liked them and decided to keep them like this. So, yes, this work is done too.

E outro trabalho rápido para a malta do Whatsinonline.com (Leicester, UK). Foi-me pedido um logotipo para Adam's Photography em Preto, Branco e Verde e se possivel para utilizar uma maçã no logo. O outro logo foi para Cook Book e aí apenas me indicaram que o fundo seria branco, mas visto que eu envio os logos sem fundo, neste caso isso não seria problema...
Estes foram os primeiros logotipos que fiz e enviei para verem e darem uma opinião (tipo alterações e etc), eles gostaram e decidiram manter como estavam. Mais um trabalho acabado.

Whats In Online

Quick studies for Whatsinonline.com

ENGLISH:
Well, this must be the fastest work i had in my life. I was requested to create a logo for the website Whats In Online from Leicester (i think), UK.
I sent two quick studies (vectorized) i made in my free time to show the client the logos and so the client could say which one she liked most so i could see the style i should develop and improve. She liked them, specially the second one and decided to keep that logo (as it was) and started using it without any changes, so yes, this was a really fast work. :P
I'm almost finishing a catalog too, when its done i'll post it here, maybe in a digital way, because even if i can get a copy to photograph, it will take a while to print the catalogs, so yeah, probably i will choose a digital way to show it here.

Bem, este deve ser o trabalho mais rápido que já tive na vida. Foi-me pedido para criar um logotipo para o site Whats In Online de Leicester (acho eu), UK.
Enviei dois estudos rápidos (em vector) que fiz no meu tempo livre para mostrar ao cliente, de forma a que o cliente podesse dizer qual gostava mais de forma a eu ver que estilo eu deveria desenvolver e melhorar. Ela gostou deles, especialmente do segundo e decidiu ficar com esse (como estava), tendo começado a utiliza-lo de seguida. Como podem ver, foi mesmo um trabalho rápido. :P
Também estou quase a acabar um catálogo, quando estiver pronto eu colocarei aqui, talvez de forma digital, pois mesmo que arranje uma cópia física para fotografar, irá demorar algum tempo a ser impresso e a ter uma cópia na minha mão, por isso provavelmente será mesmo de forma digital.

My brother called me today saying that one of my photos was there, so i decided to go and check it out and to take a picture of it as a souvenir. Firefox

Firefox VS Safari

ENGLISH:
Almost everyone already knows Firefox. I always used firefox (win, linux and now mac) and i like using Greasemonkey and NoScript with it and the tabs are really useful, but for mac it seems that firefox goes nuts now and then, sometimes gets really slow and i'm sure that mine doesn't like dAmn!.
Also noticed something else. In the 2 screenshots above you can see firefox and safari and their difference.
After some searching i saw a blog inside Adobe that was talking about the same problem, so i'm not the only one. :\
After some more searching and browsing i saw a couple sites that maybe are useful. At least in my case it improved the quality of the image.

I advice that when saving an image for the internet in photosho, don't use "save as..." but use "save for web and devices" (also in the File menu)

Quase toda a gente conhece o Firefox. Sempre usei o Firefox (win, linux e agora no mac), e gosto da possibilidade de usar o Greasemonkey e o NoScript e a utilização de tabs dá muito jeito para não ter imensas janelas abertas, mas para mac parece que o Firefox fica maluquinho, as vezes fica lento e tenho a certeza de que o meu não gosta do dAmn!.
Também reparei noutro pormenor, nos 2 screenshots acima pode-se ver a diferença entre o Firefox e o Safari para mac. Após alguma pesquisa encontrei um blog na Adobe que falava no mesmo, portanto não sou o único a quem isto acontece. :\
Após mais alguma pesquisa e navegação encontrei alguns sites (apenas em inglês) que talvez sejam utéis. Pelo menos no meu caso melhoraram a qualidade de imagem.

Aconcelho a que quando gravem uma imagem no photoshop para a internet, não usem o "save as..." (gravar como) mas sim o "save for web and devices" (não sei como é em Português, mas deve ser algo tipo "gravar para web e equipamentos"), que também se encontra no menu File (Ficheiro).

Photoshop Workshop

Well, here you can see a photoshop box i did at C4D that i'm going to use in a poster...
As some of you might know i was invited to be the spokesman at a photoshop workshop, i going to teach some basics, some photo treatment technics, some design basics like dpi's, RGB, CMYK and how to use some photoshop tools.
Its time to start preparing things, had a couple meetings to talk about the workshop. Many things to do until then...

Como alguns de vocês talvez já saibam, eu fui convidado a algum tempo atrás para ser o orador de um workshop de photoshop onde irei ensinar algumas bases, algumas técnicas de tratamento de fotografia, algumas bases para design como dpi's, RGB, CMYK e como utilizar algumas das ferramentas do programa. Chegou a hora de começar a preparar as coisas, tive algumas reuniões para falar sobre o workshop. Muitas coisas para fazer até lá... Quando tiver mais alguma info sobre datas e etc faço um post sobre isso. ;)
